I love the velvet lipsticks by Lisa Eldridge because it gives me the perfect blurred powdery pouty look without making my lips feel dry and uncomfortable. With drinking and eating, it lasted 4.5 hours on me before I needed to reapply. I'm already looking forward to adding more colors in this formula to my collection.

I own many of the velvets and love them all. But after the release of the rouge experience formula, I haven’t given my velvets as much attention. So I decided to try a new shade to get back into my love for this formula. As usually, it does not disappointment. I paired it with the darker Blush Liner shade for a little more dimension and I love the effect.

Velvet Duchess is my first Lisa Eldridge lipstick, and it will not be my last. The color runs the gamut from a beautiful, blue-based red when put on at full strength to the softest cloud pink when sheered out, and then it does every shade in between. I also use it as a blush, and it’s the exact color of my cheeks when they are flushed. It has replaced every other blush I own. This lipstick is like having multiple products in one. Because it’s matte, I do find it a bit drying, however that is easily fixed by layering with a bit of balm. A little goes a long way and the formula has a lot of staying power, which is very nice. I guess the best thing I can say is that as soon as I take off my makeup at night, I want to put this right back on. It is so gorgeous. The color leans magenta on me, and since I am also looking for a more neutral red, I have an excuse to get Ribbon next.

I love all of L.E. lipsticks. In fact, I will never buy any other brands. This particular shade I bought after seeing Lisa apply it as a blush. It is gorgeous as a blush. I highly recommend this for a blush as well as a lipstick.
