Concealer is often my secret weapon on shoots to blend away blemishes and camouflage the signs of a long flight or late night. There are lots of great offerings on the high street - here are some of my favourites that I keep in my kit and use on myself too…
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
If you don’t like to wear a full face of foundation but want to cover imperfections this is a great option. It comes in six good shades and offers medium coverage that’s really blendable, so you can build it up if you need to (although I find that a little goes a long way). It also sets well which makes it good for covering spots and blemishes that need long-lasting coverage.
Bourjois Healthy Mix Concealer
This concealer has a thick consistency (as thick as the matching foundation) but is really easy to blend with fingers or a brush. It dries to a natural, glowy (not shimmery) finish, rather than setting matte, which helps to brighten tired skin and under eye circles. I also use it to cover small spots and imperfections.
Rimmel Match Perfection Illuminating Concealer
This concealer isn’t full coverage, so won’t completely mask dark circles, but the light-reflecting pigments are perfect for diffusing shadows and brightening fine lines in a very natural, foolproof way. I like to blend a little under my eyes and around my mouth and nose for more even toned finish.
Revlon ColorStay Concealer
If you have oily skin that needs coverage that won’t slip throughout the day, or you’re looking for a melt-proof concealer for summer, this has a great, long-lasting formula that stays put without creasing. I like to pat it into skin with fingers to lift shadows and conceal redness and imperfections.
NYX Concealer Stick
This creamy stick concealer comes in 11 shades and blends easily into skin to seamlessly conceal spots, discolouration and under eye circles. The small tip is great for pinpoint concealing and the formula is waterproof so a good option for watery eyes and humid weather.
